Elemental Music and Dance Education
in the Changing World of Media

2016SymposiumThursday July 7 – Sunday July 10,2016
Salzburg
Mozarteum University and Orff Institute

Elemental Music and Dance teachers have new challenges, chances and also dangers in the age of new media. In today’s continually technologized world and with the development of digital media it seems that Elemental Music and Dance Education is in diametric opposition. What is the importance of body oriented music making, sensitization of aesthetic perception, and the differentiation of individual expression through music and dance in the light of technological possibilities in a society that is shaped by digital influences? Which media support and enrich our work?

The 9th International Symposium, held by the Orff Institute in cooperation with the Orff Schulwerk Forum Salzburg, is an opportunity to pursue such questions. A variety of approaches with diverse media provide impulses for debates and discussions.

Directors: Sonja Stibi, Micaela Grüner, Shirley Salmon
