Potential Subjects:

  • Classroom Applications showcase excellence in music making, movement, and creative learning in Orff Schulwerk-inspired classrooms. While not a collection of lesson plans, these articles offer inspiration, encouragement, and practical solutions for educators across various settings.
  • Current Developments in Education explore issues affecting Orff educators’ daily work, including educational initiatives, curriculum trends, arts integration, emerging technologies, elemental style and theory extensions, and arts education advocacy. These articles foster innovative thinking and strengthen connections between arts educators and their colleagues in general education.
  • Diverse Perspectives support and uplift our membership and students. These articles advance understanding of diversity and inclusion while providing teaching and learning resources that respect, affirm, and protect everyone’s dignity and worth.
  • History articles examine significant events and individuals who shaped the Orff Schulwerk approach in the United States and abroad. They highlight visionaries who advanced this unique pedagogical approach and document AOSA’s programs, services, roots, and influences.
  • Research articles deepen our understanding of music teaching and learning. They may present individual studies or literature reviews relevant to educators. Both quantitative and qualitative studies are welcome and should include classroom implications. Authors may submit research articles for blind peer review—contact the editor for details.
